Essex County Horse Organization (ECHO) is a non-profit group formed to assist the Town of Topsfield’s Parks & Cemetery Commission with the creation of an equestrian area at Pye Brook Community Park. The site is a capped landfill which has been developed into a beautiful multiuse park, including team-sports playing fields, a perimeter wildlife trail, picnic area, and open recreation areas for the public of all ages and interests. It is open to the equestrian public with a trailer entrance located off Bare Hill Road. The Horse Park is also easily accessed by Route 97 and via existing Bay Circuit and Essex County Trails Association (ECTA) trails. ECHO’s relationship with ECTA provides invaluable, ongoing assistance to our efforts.

ECHO’s immediate goal is to fence in the landfill perimeter and to install fencing that will create a designated safe area for equestrian and parking uses. The necessary funds come from our hosted equestrian events, donations, memberships, and various fundraising efforts carried out by ECHO’s members. In gratitude of their help and support, at least one annual show will be held to benefit the Topsfield Parks & Cemetery department.

2009 Benefit Raffle: Once again, Gail Wong has put together another beautiful work of art and donated it to be raffled for the benefit of the horse park. Thank you Gail! This year we have a gorgeous bench painted with a hunt scene. The bench will be on view at Unique Equine on Route 1 in Topsfield, and the winner will be selected at the Groton House Farm Horse Trials Stadium Day during lunch (June 28, 2009).
